At Le Toy Van we’re always striving to find ways to reduce our impact on the planet. We know we’re not perfect yet but we’re making progress towards our zero-waste ambition. We’re working towards this by sourcing sustainable materials for our products, using renewable energy sources at our HQ and supporting NGOs and conservation projects that are protecting precious ecosystems. We’re even focusing on the design of our toys – by creating durable toys that can be enjoyed for many years to come by inspiring and withstanding long-term play.
Our Sustainability Values
We use protected rubberwood that is a by-product of the rubber industry, using trees that are at the end of their rubber-giving life. Instead of being burnt and contributing to greenhouse gases and otherwise wasted, these trees are given a second life as a Le Toy Van toy. The rubberwood trees are protected by the Sucofindo Timber Legality certification, this is upheld by mandatory audits that verify that forests are being sustainably managed. The scheme establishes transparency as to how the wood is sourced, it follows government regulations regarding timber legality and prevents illegal logging and selling of forest wood. We’ve also switched over to 100% renewable energy sources at our London HQ.
We support conservation projects across the globe to contribute & raise awareness of their progress. One partner we’re proud to support is One Tree Planted – an NGO that is on a mission to restore forests on a global scale. You can now plant a tree with your order for the equivalent of $1 per tree, and these will be allocated quarterly based on planting seasons around the world. Donations go towards specific replant projects, meaning every donation counts towards each project. Le Toy Van have recently partnered up with Charlton’s Estate here in the UK, on a wonderful conservation and reforestation project. With already more than 78 hectares of managed woodland and wildlife, we have committed to extend the project by a further 15 hectares.
Our toys are deigned to inspire and withstand long term play, to one day be used by generations to come. Our design process can take up to 18 months to ensure our toys have durable structures whilst being packed with play features to discover so little ones will stay engaged for years to come.
